CNG Full Form- Compressed Natural Gas

What is CNG? The full form of CNG is Compressed Natural Gas. 

Currently, automobiles run on two types of natural gas: liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG). Both are commercially available, reasonably priced, and produced domestically. 

Natural gas is compressed at typical atmospheric pressure to less than 1% of its volume to create CNG. CNG is kept inside a car at a pressure of up to 3,600 pounds per square inch in a compressed gaseous form to ensure a sufficient driving range. Light-, medium-, and heavy-duty applications all employ CNG. 

On a GGE basis, a car driven by CNG achieves roughly the same fuel efficiency as a car powered by regular gasoline. 

Benefits of Using CNG

Green Fuel: Because it contains no lead or Sulphur, CNG is sometimes referred to as the "green fuel" because it emits fewer harmful emissions. Because it doesn't corrode, it prolongs the life of spark plugs. Lead fouling of spark plugs and lead or benzene emissions are eliminated because CNG has neither of these substances.

Safe Fuel: Because of its characteristics, CNG is a safe fuel. There is very little danger of a leak because it is kept in approved high gauge seamless cylinders. Because it is less dense than air, if it leaks, it simply rises to the surface, disperses into the atmosphere, and mixes effortlessly and uniformly with the air.

High Auto-Ignition Temperature: Because CNG has a high auto-ignition temperature of 540 degrees Celsius and a narrow range of flammability (5%–15%), it is less likely to auto-ignite on hot surfaces. It implies that CNG won't burn if the air's content is either above or below 5%. It is quite improbable that anything will accidentally ignite or burn due to the high ignition temperature and narrow flammability range.
