What is CEO? The full form of CEO is Chief Executive Officer

The highest-ranking executive in a corporation is the chief executive officer (CEO).

Generally speaking, a chief executive officer's principal duties include overseeing a company's whole operations and resources, making significant business decisions, and serving as the primary point of contact between corporate operations and the board of directors.

The chief executive officer frequently acts as the organization's public face.

The board and the company's shareholders choose the CEO. The board and chair, who are chosen by the shareholders, are the people they answer to. The average salary of the 350 biggest American firms' CEOs is $24 million, which is 351 times higher than that of the ordinary worker.

The Roles and Responsibilities of a CEO

  • Managers at lower levels are frequently more involved in the day-to-day operations of a business. The long-term goals of a corporation are often decided by the CEO after summing up these findings.
  • A CEO often turns to themselves and other senior leadership to start putting those plans into action after developing the long-term vision. Operational managers frequently take the lead in implementing changes, but the CEO is ultimately responsible for making sure the long-term goals are carried out.
  • Being active in media relations is part of the CEO's role as the company's face. A CEO could engage in community activities, give talks at conferences, and inform the public about significant changes to the firm.
  • Having a group of executives a CEO can trust is essential to a company's success as it becomes more diversified. A CEO frequently assigns other executives to manage their own domain and then interacts with them to gain a high-level idea of how things are going rather than personally supervising every facet of the business.
