Aspirants desirous of gaining entry into the Master of Design (MDes) programs at leading institutions have to sit for the CEED 2024. Some of these reputed institutions include the IIT Bombay, IISc Bangalore, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IIT Jodhpur, IITDM Jabalpur, IITDM Kancheepuram and others. The CEED entrance exam is also for those who wish to pursue PhD courses in leading design schools and numerous IITs. Here is a closer look at the examination and some of its key aspects. 

What is CEED Exam

The CEED exam stands for the Common Entrance Exam for Design. The objective of the test is to evaluate the aptitude of candidates in terms of design. This involves drawing and visual perception skills, creativity, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and communication. Qualifying for the CEED entrance exam does not guarantee admission into suitable programs since institutions may conduct further interviews/tests for final selection. The score of the examination will also be valid for one year from the result declaration date. 

The structure of the examination is the following: 

• Part A will have 150 marks with a maximum time of 1 hour. It is a computer-based examination with three sections. The section is Numerical Answer Type (NAT) with eight questions (4 marks each and no negative marking). Section 2 is MSQ (Multiple Select Question), which will have ten questions and a marking scheme between 1-4 for each answer, depending on the choices of candidates. Section 3 has multiple choice questions (MCQs) with 26 questions in total (3 marks each for the correct answer and 0.5 negative marks for incorrect answers). 
• Part B will take a maximum of two hours with 100 marks in all. There are five questions for testing candidates' drawing, design, and writing skills. The answers have to be written in the answer book provided by invigilators based on the questions shown on the screen.

Eligibility Criteria for the CEED Exam 

The eligibility criteria for the CEED exam are the following: 

• Candidates should complete their diploma/degree/postgraduate degree programs of at least three years (after the 10+2 level) or appear for any such program's final examination by July 2024. 
• Alternatively, they should have passed the GD Arts diploma program (10+5 level) by July 2024. 
• The eligibility criteria for admission to institutions may differ from those for appearing for the CEED entrance exam. 
• There is no age limit or limit on the number of times candidates can appear for the test. 

Admission Process for CEED Exam

The CEED exam admission process involves the following steps: 

• The registration form should be submitted through the online application website. 
• The CEED exam application form was available on the online portal which opened from 3rd October, 2023. 
• The form should be submitted only through the portal- http://www.ceed.iitb.ac.in. 
• The registration fees are INR 1,900 (SC/ST/PwD) and INR 3,800 (for all other candidates). 
• This charge is non-refundable and non-transferable. It has to be paid via the payment option given on the website while submitting the form. 
• Debit card, credit card, and net banking choices are available. 
• A late fee of INR 500 is applicable for registrations submitted post the regular closing date. 
• To complete registration, candidates must upload a file with their recent color photograph (.jpg) as per the dimensions mentioned and a scanned copy of their signature (.jpg). They also have to upload a scanned copy of their degree/diploma certificate (.pdf file) is the course is completed. They can upload a copy of the final year mark list or provisional certificate if they do not have the same. 
• If the course has not been completed yet, a certificate has to be uploaded from the head of the department/college principal based on the format given. 
• Those applying under the EWS/ST/SC/OBC-NCL category should upload valid category certificates (.pdf file). 
• Those applying in the PwD category should upload valid medical certificates (.pdf file) stating that the disability is at least 40%. 
• Dyslexic candidates have to get certificates from the head of their institution/college principal as per the mentioned format. It should state the nature of the disability as permanent and severe. 

The admit card will be available for download from the official website- www.ceed.iitb.ac.in from 5th January 2024 till the examination date. A printout should be taken before reaching the examination centre.
