Thank you for visiting the website of pAGES, the Association of Graduate English Students in the department of English, Theatre, Film & Media at the University of Manitoba. At pAGES we are committed to involving our graduate students in larger university initiatives and encouraging interdisciplinary research connections. Our members include representatives of ETFM to the Graduate Student Association of the University of Manitoba, a creative writing group, a film-screening initiative, and a theatre representative. We host an annual colloquium in January that invites the showcasing of new creative work and critical research, as well as various other events for ETFM students. We make it our priority to bring together varying research fields and interests under the banner of pAGES, and to use this platform to support our student collective and make their insights available to a wider public.

Technology Studies Education provides a forum for exploring and studying information and communication technologies (ICT), new media, and the philosophy of technology. Curriculum, pedagogy, research, and development interests of faculty and students include affective computing, cyberculture and cyborg relations, digital ecology and diversity, distributed cognition, gaming, ICT integration in K–16 formal and informal learning environments (face-to-face, hybrid, and online distance education), intellectual property, open source, and cultural studies. The program offers a common core of courses, a range of electives, and a variety of professional education opportunities.

The Department of Drama offers graduate programs leading to the degree of PhD in Performance Studies, Master of Fine Arts degrees in Theatre Design, Directing, Theatre Voice Pedagogy, and Theatre Practice, and Master of Arts in Drama degree.

The Department offers students access to a range of professional facilities during their studies including performance, workshop, rehearsal and classroom space, libraries, graduate student offices, and access to computers and seminar rooms. The Timms Centre for the Arts provides a fully equipped, 289-seat-proscenium theatre, a black box second playing space, theatre collections, props shop, production offices, wardrobe, dressing rooms and a green room. The Fine Arts Building offers students the opportunity to study and work in a variety of studio and performance spaces.

The MA in Film Studies examines film as an artistic, cultural, and political medium. The main objective of this program is to expose students to different methodologies of film and media analysis, in order to understand the role of moving images in society and history. The program encompasses aesthetics, theory, and research methods that will help enable students to navigate their own relationship to the complex and pervasive viewing experiences of our digital world. While exploring the latest developments in moving image culture, we encourage students to develop their own research projects. You will connect with a dynamic group of students and develop your own areas of interest and benefit from some of the best research labs in Canada. Our internationally-renowned faculty is comprised of academics from a multitude of disciplines and institutions and includes four research chairs. Montreal's exceptional range of film venues, museums, galleries and artist-run centres means that students live and work in an incredibly vibrant and inspiring urban environment.

Toronto Metropolitan University’s Master of Digital Media is an intensive 12-month professional program designed to equip graduates with the skills and industry experience they will need as they launch themselves into the digital media world. Whether students plan to develop their own startup, work in the corporate world or go on to complete further studies, we provide the framework for success.

The MFA Art program provides graduate students the opportunity to pursue contemporary art production through theoretical and practical scholarship. Encompassing material, critical, and conceptual investigations, students work with an open studio context with faculty who are active artists and scholars. Indigenous knowledge and cultural perspectives are supported.
