Why the IELTS Exam is Required: Know All the Benefits

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s leading language test for those who require proof of their English proficiency for the purpose of work, study, or migration. The IELTS test is of two types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training exams and the more recent Life Skills type. IELTS Academic is taken by students for study purposes, and IELTS General Training is taken for the purpose of work and immigration. Let us read further to know about the other reasons why the IELTS exam is required.

The test is managed and conducted by IDP in India. The IELTS examination is conducted 48 times a year, with no limit on the number of attempts. There are no official eligibility criteria or prerequisites for the test takers to take the examination. The test measures the competency of a non-native English speaker in four sections: writing, reading, speaking and listening. IELTS is recognized by thousands of institutions and developed economies around the world. Applicants planning to take the test in the upcoming days must know about all the benefits of the IELTS exam to ensure a good band score.

Why is the IELTS exam required?

The test assesses whether an individual possesses the capability of communicating in an English-speaking country. The importance of the IELTS exam can be ascertained from the fact that it has become a non-negotiable eligibility criterion for applicants to enter English-speaking countries for varied purposes, such as studying at a reputed or leading educational institution, obtaining a work visa, or taking up residence in a country where English is the primary spoken language.

Here are some benefits of taking the exam:

● Access to global employment opportunities:

Global conglomerates and multinationals require proof of English language proficiency when they offer employment to non-native English speakers. Therefore, applicants who want to work for global brands overseas need to take the IELTS test. One would need to take the General IELTS exam to get a work visa and start a professional life in a foreign country. Developed economies in the world like the USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, and the UK accept IELTS test scores while offering jobs.

● Higher education and study programs overseas:

The top overseas education destinations like the UK, the USA, Canada, and Germany require an aspirant to take the IELTS Academic test. The IELTS examination is not only a prerequisite for university entry for non-native speakers, but it is also essential for those wishing to register themselves with professional bodies and organizations. Applicants taking the IELTS test can easily apply and secure admission to the most prestigious educational institutions overseas.

Immigration and permanent residency:

Government agencies use the IELTS exam as part of their application processes to award citizenship or the right to permanent residency. It is a dream and a lucrative opportunity for meritorious and skilled individuals to settle down in countries like Canada, Germany, the USA, the UK, and Australia. According to the governments of these countries, language proficiency is important to integrate, communicate, and work in their English-speaking environment. The immigration authorities accept and recognize visa and immigration applications only when they are supplemented with an IELTS score. It is important for applicants, who are planning to settle abroad, to take the IELTS test. For immigration purposes, IELTS General must be taken. Immigration to Germany, Australia, and Canada requires a band score of 6.5.
