Overview

The University of Salford UK has three campuses, namely Frederick Road, Peel Park, and MediaCity UK. The University of Salford was founded on 10th February 1967. The institution was established from the fusion of several institutes and technical colleges. The Royal Technical Institute was renamed the Royal Technical College in 1921 and this was divided into the Peel Park Technical College and Royal College of Advanced Technology in 1958. The former became the Peel Park Technical Institute in 1961 and eventually the Salford College of Technology in 1970. The Uiversity College Salford was formed thereafter in 1992. The Royal College of Advanced Technology turned into the Univesity of Salford in 1967. Infrastructure

The University has three campuses as mentioned and they are home to top-of-the-line infrastructure including food outlets, cafes, and more. There is also a student store and the Clifford Whitworth Library along with the Faith Centre and Peel Park.

The institution is known for its research expertise, especially its collaborations with industries. It has several interdisciplinary research centers and units along with partnerships with public and private entities alike. Academic

The admission intakes are in January and September. The University of Salford admission process involves the following:

1. You can apply online for postgraduate courses at the university.

2. You have to submit all supporting documents and complete the form details.

3. Bachelor’s degree applications can be made via UCAS.

The University of Salford admission requirements include:

1. IELTS 6.0 for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

2. IELTS 4.5 for the International Foundation Year.

3. Undergraduate courses require 50-65% marks while postgraduate courses require 55% average marks or 50% with work experience.

The University of Salford’s acceptance rate is 5%. There are postgraduate, undergraduate, and foundation courses on offer. Popular courses include biology, chemical sciences, biomedical science, zoology, physics, wildlife, and marine biology.

The academic year 2022-23 will begin from 12th September, 2022 and end on 11th September, 2023.

Extra-curriculars and Diversity

There are close to 20,000 students studying at the institution and they come from more than 130 global nations. There are 50+ societies and student clubs at the institution across the entire spectrum of interests including politics, performance arts, and more. The Sports Centre comes with five fitness zones, a 25-meter pool, more than 30 fitness classes, a dance studio, a sports hall, a floodlit pitch, a health hub, squash courts, and more.

Unitemps also has responsibility for filling up all temporary and part-time vacancies at the institution while advertising various opportunities to employers as well. Career support is readily available including accessible online career resources, workshops, appointments, and more. The Careers and Enterprise Team provides free services to students not only while they are studying but also after graduation. Other solutions include mock interviews, CV assistance, and career planning.

There is a student employability guide made for new aspirants to help them tap into available opportunities and also develop their skills for future growth. Students can also take a closer look at available volunteering opportunities at the university which helps them gain work experience along with adding to their resumes at the same time. There is an Enterprise Team that helps students with self-employment and freelancing along with setting up their businesses as well. Careers and Enterprise is the central organization offering support to students along with helping them enhance their employability to draw employers in various sectors. Workshops, mentoring and job search assistance are the key features offered under this initiative.

Financial

International students have to pay GBP 14,400 (INR 14.40 lakh) to GBP 16,740 (INR 16.74 lakh) for undergraduate programs while postgraduate students have to pay between GBP 11,340-18,990 (INR 11.34-18.99 lakh) in tuition costs.

Students should also budget at least GBP 9,207 (INR 9.20 lakh) for every year in terms of living costs over and above the tuition costs. The monthly cost may hover around GBP 1,023 (INR 1.02 lakh) as well.
