There are authorized test centers in each country, assigned with the task of conducting tests. In India, there are 78 such centers that are associated with the IELTS organizing body, International Development Program (IDP).

What are the exam centers’ rules?

IELTS exam centers in India have certain rules, and candidates not abiding by them will not be allowed to sit in the exam.

What’s allowed in IELTS Test Centers?

  1. ID proof- passport or a national ID card containing DoB (Date of Birth), the photograph of the candidate, and passport number
  2. Stationery, though centers provide basic stationery in India
  3. Hand sanitizers
  4. Masks to maintain hygiene and safety

What’s not allowed in IELTS Exam Centers?

  1. No eatables are allowed
  2. No watches inside exam hall
  3. No dictionary
  4. No electronic devices
  5. No water inside the room

Does IELTS Exam Centre Matter?

You can take the exam at any of the IELTS exam centres. The selection of the exam center doesn’t matter. It is only the candidate’s knowledge about the IELTS that matters.

Can I change my IELTS exam center after registration?

Yes, you can easily change your IELTS exam center after registration. It can be done only once with a deduction in the administrative charges.

There are around 78 approved IELTS test centers in India.

What are the facilities available for special candidates at IELTS Exam Centers?

Yes, there are arrangements for special candidates at IELTS exam centers. Some of the arrangements include

  1. modified and enlarged print papers,
  2. lip-reading versions of the Listening test, 
  3. braille and enlarged print versions of the Speaking test,
  4. extra time for the Reading and Writing test or use of a computer (e.g. for candidates with dyslexia), 
  5. braille papers, 
  6. a scribe to write answers on your behalf or a special Listening Test (e.g. using amplification equipment and/or lip-reading version of the Listening test for those with hearing difficulties).
