gmat results and gmat scores

The GMAT scores can decide a student's future regarding admission to top international universities. A good GMAT result is a gateway to management programs at leading global business schools. You must remember the GMAT Focus Edition is the only accepted version of GMAT worldwide from February 1, 2024. Read on to know what a good GMAT score is and set your 2024 GMAT score goal accordingly.

GMAT Result Dates

The GMAT Focus Edition results and scores are announced by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), the body organizing the entrance test. The GMAT result dates are not fixed, and aspirants can view the scores by logging into their accounts. The results can be accessed around 20 days from the examination date and the percentile/scores are mentioned on the scorecard. Aspirants should carefully check all information and notify the authorities if they encounter discrepancies. The GMAT cut-off marks for various chosen institutions should also be checked carefully.

How to Check GMAT Results

The GMAT result can be viewed online. Students will receive their official GMAT Focus Edition scores within three to five days (may sometimes take up to 20 days) after the examination. The GMAT scores are valid for five years from the exam date. If an aspirant is dissatisfied with their scores, they may reappear for the test. The GMAT can be attempted five times a year.

The GMAC sends email alerts about the availability of official scores. The emails also contain all instructions for accessing the scores online. The students can also receive the results via post while registering for the GMAT.

How is GMAT Exam Scored

The GMAT Focus Edition scores are calculated on a fixed scale and give equal weightage to all three sections. This implies scores of the Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights sections contribute to your final score. The final score breakdown is visible on the GMAT Score Report for your perusal. Hence, you must have a fair understanding of the details of the score reports. Here is a GMAT score chart for an easy reference:

SectionScore RangeScore Intervals
Data Insights60-90Scores are reported in intervals of 1, and the standard error measurement is 3 points.
Verbal Reasoning60-90Scores are calculated in intervals of 1, while the standard error measurement is 3 points.

GMAT Focus Edition Total Score205-805Scores are reported in intervals of 10. The standard error measurement is 30-40 points.

The GMAT Focus Edition intends to focus more on the higher-order reasoning and data literacy skills significant for graduate business and management students.
